Trie Michaud- Visual Artist/ Author / Art Life Coach
Meet Trie, the ultimate life mixer who’s been blending reality with her trusty camera for as long as she can remember. Her style? Photojournalism with a sprinkle of artistic flair – capturing those unscripted moments that make life worth living. “I’m all about catching life as it happens, not staging it. I just sit back and let the magic unfold before my lens,” she says, with a wink.
Armed with an Associate in Science Degree from Quinsigamond Community College, Trie’s been snapping shots since she was knee-high to a grasshopper, thanks to a Brownie-110 film camera gifted by her Grandfather at the tender age of 4. She’s got a knack for events, portraits, pet pics, and capturing nature’s finest photogenic moments.
But Trie’s creativity doesn’t stop at photography – oh no! Since college, she’s been diving headfirst into every creative endeavor imaginable. Web design, graphic design, painting, drawing – you name it, she’s tried it. Photography might’ve been her first love, but Trie’s heart had been stolen by fluid art painting, discovered during the winter of 2017. Who knew mixing paint could be so therapeutic?
In 2014, Trie took a leap into the music festival scene at Gathering of the Vibes in Bridgeport, Connecticut, and hasn’t looked back since. The positive vibes of the festival world have seeped into her persona and her work, inspiring everything from funky graphic designs to soulful musical portraits. And let’s not forget her legendary hugs, courtesy of her alter ego, #Hugatrie – because spreading joy and hugs is just her thing.
Fast forward to 2018, and Hugatrie LLC is born, fueled by the inspiration of her favorite band, Twiddle. Trie’s art makes its public debut at the Twiddle Tumble Down Festival in Burlington, Vermont, and it’s been a whirlwind ever since. From online showcases to local farmers’ markets, Trie’s vibrant creations are everywhere. And if you’re lucky, you might catch her live, adding her artistic touch to music performances all over the good ol’ US of A.
But wait, there’s more! Trie’s current obsession? Neurographic Art – her therapeutic escape during the chaos of the Covid Pandemic, the loss of her bestie of 20 years, and a divorce, and the loss of her mother. Drawing her way through the ups and downs has brought her an inexplicable sense of freedom in her art. While she’s been a digital artist for most of her journey, Trie now finds solace in the simplicity of pen and paper. Want proof? Check out her portfolio on Behance.
But here’s the twist – Trie’s not behind the lens anymore, thanks to an injury she sustained during her 9-5 grind before the pandemic. But hey, who needs photography when you’ve got a canvas and some paint, right?
Oh, and did we mention she’s a certified art life coach? Yep, Trie’s the real deal when it comes to helping others unlock their creative potential and find healing through art. And get this – she’s also an author! Her upcoming book, “Awakening The Soul,” delves into the transformative power of Somatic Art and Neurographic Art as a way to heal. Because who needs therapy when you’ve got a paintbrush and a copy of Trie’s book?
So, if you’re in need of a smile, a killer hug, or just some downright awesome art, Trie’s your gal.
